Langtang valley is situated close to the Tibetan border. A remote valley enclosed by snow-capped mountains that culminates in the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m). The valley runs east to west and is framed by snow-capped peaks soaring 6,000m to 7,000m. The northern border features the main crest of the Himalayas with the Langtang Lirung, at 7,245m, the highest peak there.

By road, Langtang Valley is up to six hours’ drive from Kathmandu or up to five if you decide to trek through Helambu’s forested hills. Langtang’s the place to trek if you want a short trip with “all the excitement of the Himalayas”, says the Nepal tourism office. It says the area is one of the most accessible trekking areas near the Kathmandu Valley offering short day hikes or week-long (or more) treks into the lake district. You’re up for 70 glaciers and high altitude lakes such as Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda.Yak and sheepherders abound.

Langtang valley trek starts with full excitement drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi and follows trails to Langtang River. The trek reaches the Tamang settlement of the picturesque Langtang village and allows the trekkers to interact with the Tamang locals. The trek also features the ancient Kyanjin Gompa, which holds the highest spiritual honor among the locals of Langtang region and also hosts a spectacular panorama of the mountains including the Langtang range. As you reach the highest altitude of the trek in Tserko Ri (4984m), you will get mesmerizing panoramic views of the mountains in the Langtang region. While you enjoy the serene environment of the trek, you will also get great views of peaks such as Dorje Lakpa (6966m) and Shishapangma (8013m), the only 8000m peak in Tibet. The last day trip is a complete package to experience nature and culture along with breathtaking rays of sunrise/set that fall on the mountain peaks.

Detail Itinerary


Day1: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport - (1360m.)
After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our office representative and transferred to the hotel.

Day2: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing
The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, being the historical and cultural heart of the country, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers and other types of adventure seekers. The city is a marvelous amalgamation of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western cultures influences. Paten and Bhaktapur are its two major neighboring cities. These two cities, like Kathmandu, have a rich historical, cultural and religious legacy which is reflected in the many temples, monuments and artifacts that they contain. You will be taken on a half-day guided tour of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur cities. In Kathmandu, you will be visiting Pashupatinath, the most famous and revered Hindu shrine in the country; Bouddhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, Swyambhunath, which contains both Buddhist and Hindu shrines and stands as testimony to the religious harmony that exists in the country; and the 15th-century 55-window palace in Bhaktapur. An orientation session for the trek, which commences the following day, will be organized in the evening.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 7-8 hrs
We drive from Kathmandu in the morning the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley - Syabrubesi. Our journey begins with outstanding views of Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal. Trek for today ends with a descent into the small village of Syabrubesi.

Day 04: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6-7 hrs
After breakfast, we begin our trek to Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. We ascend and descend simultaneously through oak and rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), we ascend on a steep trail which will lead us to the Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley (3455m/11332ft)
Today you will have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghoda Tabela where you will stop for lunch. This surrounding area dense wild habitat area and many small babblers with lot of herbal can be found here. After lunch you will walk another three hours on the scenic trail takes you to Langtang village (3455m/11332ft) where you will relax for the evening.

Day 06: Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa (3817m/12519ft) 3-4 hrs
Today after breakfast you will leave beautiful Langtang Village and start your trek leisurely for around three to four hours to visit Kyanjing Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is the last destination of your trekking at an altitude of 3817m/12519ft from sea level. From here you will have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Mt. Langtang Lirung. You will visit surrounding area like Yak cheese Factory, Kyanjin Monastery and local houses.

Day 07: Acclimatization Kyangjin Gompa: explore Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,404ft) 7-8 hrs
We spend the whole day exploring Tserko Ri which will also help us acclimatize to the high altitude. We begin early in the morning. The trail passes through yak pastures before ascending to Tserko RI. The sunrise view from the top of Tserko Ri is extraordinary. We get back to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon and explore the beautiful monastery while enjoying views of the Himalayas, glaciers, birds and yaks.

Day 08: Trek back from Kyanjin Gompa to Ghoda Tabela
This morning you retrace your steps to Ghoda Tabela. The walking will be pleasant and scenic.

Day 09: Trek back from Ghoda Tabela to Syabrubesi
Today you walk down to Syabrubeshi via Lama Hotel and Bamboo through previous rhododendron forest and along with Bhotekoshi River.

Day 10: Drive back Syabrubesi to Kathmandu
After breakfast catch a coach to set for Kathmandu. After reaching in Kathmandu, you will be taken to your hotel. Have a rest. In evening you can stroll around Thamel, the major tourist destination of Kathmandu. You can do some last minute shopping of souvenirs for your family and relatives.
